build a chicken coop

I originally started thinking about raising chickens to save money and become more slef sufficient but then I read the story about battery hens and it really made my decision final.

And...

When I  read about the impact that it can have on the environment it was like icing on a cake. So I set off to raise my own. Then I realized that I would need a coop and decided to build my own coop too. I figured that I had better learn that too. I had no idea where to start becuase I had never done it before.

I admit, I was skeptical too that a normal person could build one, but the " Build Your Own Chicken Coop" Guide will save you $500 or more by building it yourself, this is when compared to the Pre-built ones like I almost bought.

You can build your own Chicken Coop and save a lot of moneyBUT I had to get 5 "Build Your Own Chicken Coop" guides , before I found one that actually made sense!! I am not saying the others aren't good but these are the ones that I liked.

I picked out the single best DIY Chicken Guide just for you because this is the one that helped me and, well… it was real easy to follow.  You can have a real nice chicken coop that all your friends and family would be impressed with too!

Below I've listed the 2 best chicken coop guides I found (this is after reviewing a total of 5 DIY guides). The 2nd one isn’t bad but the first one is definitely the nicest one available (in my opinion).

Not only is it a great project for you and the family, but it will provide your family with Fresh Eggs and Free high-quality fertilizer as well.

And now I find myself helping friends from my church , because they think I am an expert now. I have thought about building some extras and selling them on Ebay but I am not sure how I would send them to people. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my review and your new chicken coop.

In My Opinion, There are No Other Chicken Coop Guides available that are as good as the two listed below .

coop plans

Out of the 5 Guides that I got, "Chicken DIY Guide" is absolutely the best course available. The guide gives step-by-step instructions, pictures, and Images that simplified the whole process. They even have a wood cutting guide so you can pre-cut and pre-label all the pieces so the installation goes that much smoother.

We downloaded his guide and were reading the ebook within 5 minutes. Using the "Chicken DIY Guide" check list, you will assemble a fully functioning Chicken Coop in just a weekend.

Although you can build this coop for less than $100, you would have to do some serious scavenging to make that work. It will cost around $127 when you buy most of the stuff brand new. Still $1,000 under the cost of a new one (and that is without installation) so still well worth it.

chicken coop book

Out of all the guides , "Build a Chicken Coop in as little as 3 days" is the only other one that I would recommend. The installation looks very simple, but lacks some of the instructional detail the "Chicken DIY Guide" has. It kind of leaves you guessing some minor steps and is not as practical for someone like me who enjoys clear instructions with true step-by-step information.

We did not use this guide , but it looked better than the other 3 guides that we downloaded. I think you need to look at the webiste yourself to flly understand what I am talking about.

NOTE: (Dec 2009) - As mentioned before, I didn't just get one single "Do It Yourself" chicken coop guide. I downloaded 5 of them! This was because the first 3 we got were not very good! Out of the 5 guides I got, only 2 of them were helpful. The 2 guides mentioned above are by far the best out there. Don't waste your time and money on anything else out there.

Locally raised livestock can help to reduce air pollution related to the long-distance transportation of meat and poultry products.

According to a 2006 report by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, the livestock industry produces 18 percent of greenhouse-gas emissions worldwide.

Rescuing Battery Hens

In addition to rasing chickens locally to reduce air pollution, you can also help stop the mass-production hen farms. In these farms hens, also reffered to as battery hens, are jam packed into tiny little spaces and forced to lay eggs until their eventual death.

Rasing your own chickens and producing local fresh eggs helps to reduce carbon emmissions and save the battery hens. I have read about folks getting ahold of and adding recused hens to their new backyard coop or hen house.
